Beauty Staples

makeup favorites

There are a few beauty staples in my makeup bag that I have to share! When you find something you love it’s only fair to share the good news right? A couple of the products are favorites from a long time ago. One is new to me but, let’s just say I’m hooked!

FOUNDATION: LANCOME TEINT IDOLE ULTRA LIQUID 24HR LONGWEAR SPF15 FOUNDATION– I began using this foundation seven years ago while I was having some major acne issues. It was my go-to for six years and last year decided to make a change. I turned to NARS tinted moisturizer. Which I do love for light coverage. However, this July I was in Portland on a trip with Nick and left my NARS moisturizer at home. At this point, I decided I was missing my good old tried and true Lancome foundation.

WHY I LOVE IT: It’s full coverage, stays all day, has SPF, and is non-comedogenic. Non-comedogenic is a term for skin-care or cosmetic products that are formulated in a way so as not to cause clogged pores. But, most importantly I really do feel that it evens out my skin tone and gives me as flawless of skin as possible when I currently have pretty bad acne (yet again!) But, that’s for a different time. We’ll talk about overall skin health another day.

MASCARA: LANCOME CILS BOOSTER XL VITAMIN-INFUSED MASCARA PRIMER- I used this product when it was first released while I was in high school. I remember really liking it then! However, I wasn’t willing to spend $25 on primer and $25 on mascara. Within the last year, I started using drugstore mascara and recently received a sample of the primer. Once I started using it again, I realized it was so silly to ever stop! Let’s just say it is now back in the daily rotation.

WHY I LOVE IT: I have extremely short eyelashes. Like, almost nonexistent. This stuff truly makes them look so much longer! The length the primer adds is ridiculous. It’s a magic worker! Especially, since I tried to go the fake eyelash route and just couldn’t take myself seriously. Kasmir, even asked me what was on my eyes. HAHA! I love the way it looks on other people though. Really wanted the fake eyelash thing to work for me and maybe I tried some that were too long. But, for now I am happy to say I’ve found longer lashes thanks to the Lancome primer.

UNDER EYE CONCEALER: TARTE SHAPE TAPE CONTOUR CONCEALER- I am new to this stuff! I have been using the Shape Tape for about a month and am hooked! I’ll never go back. It’s full coverage and can be used to cover blemishes too. I just watched a video on Tarte’s website and just found out it can be used to highlight and contour as well! This is definitely intriguing! I may have to give that a go. (for highlight go two shades lighter and for contour go two shades darker)

WHY I LOVE IT: This stuff is full coverage and lasts all day! Never creases and brightens my skin so well! I have major dark circles from almost two years of terrible sleep. Kyrie is not known for sleeping well! haha. I have been on the hunt for reliable under eye concealer. After using Lancome and Urban Decay I can honestly say this stuff is way better than either of those and I am not longer on the hunt! I have found the good stuff. I know because after I wash my face twice I look in the mirror and can still see it under my eyes. It only fully wipes away with eye makeup remover.

With that… I thought I would share my face with no makeup and with! A perfect glimpse of what these products look like in use!

No Makeup here! And honestly, this photo is to also document my skin prior to cutting dairy out completely as well as what I will be using or taking once I see a dermatologist for my skin:

These photos are taken on the same day. Before makeup and after. There is no filter and the only reason the lighting is different is that I smartened up and took the makeup photo in front the bathroom window. makeup routine
