Favorite sunless tanner

sunless tanner
I have to share my favorite sunless tanner! This is something I just had to share because in the last couple of years, I have started to really care about the health of my skin. The importance of keeping my skin from sun damage; such as premature wrinkles or skin cancer has been at the forefront. Still, I want that summer glow! The desire for sunkissed skin runs deep. Especially, living in California. Shorts or tank tops can be worn year round. So, I tried out Jergens Instant Sun: Sunless Tanning Mousse.

Why I use it:
Jergens Instant Sun: Sunless Tanning Mousse is my jam! The color is truly instant and looks amazing. Originally, I purchased this option for those days when I needed instant sun for a date night or wearing my swimsuit. Figured the classic Jergens Daily Glow moisturizer would be my go-to for daily use. However, after using Instant Sun I really see no need for the daily moisturizer. For a daily moisturizer, I prefer to use something scented, rather than a self-tanner. Instant Sun looks great, is easy to apply, lasts, and the price is right. The price tag is roughly $10. I purchased my last bottle a month ago and use it every 2 to 3 days. The bottle is still going strong!
How to apply:
I squirt 1-2 pumps at a time. Use circular and vertical motions to apply; switching back and forth between the two application motions. I find this is the best way to ensure the color doesn’t streak and I’m less likely to miss a spot. Apply the product in sections. For example, I apply from the knee down till the mousse has fully absorbed into the skin. Wash your hands between applications. The color dries quickly; it will stain your hands. Next, apply 1-2 pumps from the hip to your knee. Use extremely sparingly on your knee, ankles, feet, and elbows.
Important for elbows, knees, ankles, feet, hands:
Wherever you are applying the color leave these areas alone till the color is almost completely absorbed. At this point apply to our knee, or if you are doing the lower half of your leg than apply to your ankles/feet.
How often to apply:
I apply the mousse every 2-3 days depending on what I have going on that day or if I want to make sure the color is going strong!
Color choices:
I use deep bronze. However, there is also the option for light bronze.
Helpful tips:
  • Make sure to wash hands thoroughly between application sections
  • Let skin dry fully before getting dressed
  • I use my bare hands. However, you can use a pair of rubber gloves if you don’t want to worry about washing it off. *I have not used the glove method. An Insta friend has and said it worked for her.
  • After a shower/swimming, pat skin dry to ensure the color doesn’t rub off *I have not experienced any issues with color coming off on my clothing. However, I have noticed if I rub my skin dry the color does come off.
