Football season is almost here! That means it’s time to start planning your outfits. It’s always fun to coordinate with the colors of your favorite team.
For us, preseason has begun with the Atlanta, Falcons! I love this time of year. Football season means a lot to my family. My husband played football and has been a coach for several years. We eat, sleep, and breath football in our house! For us football games mean the boys and I get to see Nick on the field at practice and on game days; it’s super special in our lives. We also love how football creates such a fun and inviting community. There’s always a game bringing people together on the weekends. Not only do I love football but it’s a sign that my favorite time of year is coming. Fall!
Okay, enough of that! Let’s talk game day outfit ideas! Are you a person who likes to wear team gear or someone who prefers to coordinate? Either way it’s always fun to match with the team you love. Whether it’s high school football, college football, or professional football.
Personally, I like to coordinate. There are days when I just wanna be comfy cozy and will opt for joggers and a team pullover sweatshirt. Usually, something oversized from Nick’s side of the closet. But, most of the time I enjoy bringing my love for fashion to game day.
I’ve styled five game day outfit ideas to hopefully spark inspiration for you! I went with red, black, and white for my game day outfit ideas. But, you can easily replicate these looks with the colors of your favorite team.
All pieces are from Amazon. This was a purposeful decision as Amazon has a lot of color options when looking at items. I tried my best to choose pieces that had multiple colors to choose from. That way you can apply these exact items to your football team of choice. Whether it be green, blue, purple, etc Amazon is an easy and fast option to make sure you’re all set for football season. Cool & casual
Keep it casual with a tank in the color of the team you’re reppin’, layer with a lightweight shacket, jeans, and sneakers.
top: Size up one in the tank. It does run small. It’s a cropped style. Wear with high waisted denim and it will lay really nicely with the jeans.
Jeans: I love a good pair of busted knee jeans. Plus, distressing is an appropriate option for a game day outfit. These are Levi’s; I love Levi’s. They fit true to size. The waistline is pretty loose. Definitely not that skin tight type of denim. But, they’re super comfortable and fit in a really relaxed way. If you’re up for a lived in rigid denim these are great! Very comfortable!
Shacket: I like how this shacket is cream. The off white with corduroy gives off that cozy vibe. It is lightweight. The inside material is not cozy but, not itchy either. Which I prefer for this time of year. If its a cozy feel the sweat will start rolling. A great piece to wear for other occasions too! Wear with the black sweater dress (found later in this post) with booties for an elevated fall look.
Sneakers: These sneakers are a great option for a game day outfit. They’re cute, super comfy for walking, and have a nice mix of neutral colors. A little sass with the silver detail around the back of the heel. Great for wearing with joggers, jeans, a dress! Easily dressed up or down.
Accessories: Add a rolled bandana to your bag for an extra pop of team pride! If you’re attending a college or professional game clear bags required. I also think they’re super fun! Love the gold chain detail.
Sassy
Details: Sleeveless white sweater dress- has great weight to it. It’s definitely a thick material which is great- no worrying about whether it will be see through! Definitely important with a white dress. I am wearing a size small. Could size down one for a more fitted feel. But, I kind of like how it doesn’t feel restricting in a small. White for fall is also really fun! Wear this dress outside of game day with booties and a cognac moto jacket. The rule of no white after labor day no longer exists! Yippeeeeee!
Shoes: Shoes also fit tts. If a white dress isn’t your jam go for the black with a bomber jacket instead.
Bomber jacket: A bomber jacket is so fun! It just instantly gives you that “I’m a bad a**” vibe! This one fits true to size and comes in other colors. Opt for the color that coordinates with your favorite team.
This game day outfit is so perfectly feminine, sassy, and comfortable all at the same time!
Crossbody bag: College and professional games require clear bags. I believe if it’s larger than a small crossbody. But, this clear little bag is just too cute! Why not take part in the clear bag policy when it gets to be a fun option like this? The price point is great too and serves the purpose of the necessities- will fit a small wallet, key, phone, and lipstick.
Country
Tshirt dress: This game day outfit is so comfy! Black is always a great option for a game. But, if black isn’t a color in your team’s color palette I’d opt for a denim tshirt dress and add in a cute bandana that matches the color scheme. Fit is tts. I will say there was a chemical scent on this dress. I’ve had this happen a couple of times with Amazon orders. It happens with other brands too. If this bothers you I’d skip this dress. If not; just be sure to give yourself enough time for ordering/washing before game day.
The sneakers are so comfy! Like walking on a cloud. They have great cushion.
Elevated
If it’s a night game or just not blazing hot than this is the look to go for! Love the faux leather shorts paired with over the knee boots. Throw on a sweater in the color of your team and front tuck it just a tad.
Sweater: Fit tts. It’s super soft and comfy!! Very pleased with the material. This sweater is actually pretty long. Would go great with a pair of faux leather leggings and boots for games later in the season or just because on a chilly fall day. PRO TIP: Tuck the bottom of the sweater just slightly under your bra so that it is completely folded and voila you’ve got a top that is short enough in the front to lay well with your bottoms or tucks in perfectly. It will stay well and honestly, I didn’t even notice. Other than, I was sweating my balls off in the 85 degrees and who knows what humidity trying to get this outfit photographed. hehe!!
Shorts: Shorts fit true to size. These are great for games. You can even opt for a tank top to tuck in to the shorts if you’d like to wear now and it’s still blazing like it is here in Georgia. The pockets are functional and the draw string is as well. These shorts are a more unexpected look for a game day outfit; which I love!
Boots: My boots are super old. But, I’ve linked a similar pair. If going for over the knee boots I would choose a brushed leather. It pairs well with the sheen of the faux leather shorts. Otherwise, if the boots are shiny too it kind of looks like a pirate costume vibe.
Chic
Dress: Another sweater dress for ya! This one is a little shorter than the white option. Super comfortable and fits tts. This is also a great dress for work, date night, brunch, you name it. Dress it up with heels or boots. Be sure to tuck in your armpit strings so you don’t have a mishap like I have in this photo. hehe! Or cut em off. Those dang things are so annoying. lol!
Sneakers: Same kicks from outfits above. They’re really so versatile! love them.
Bandana: tie the bandana around your neck for a cutie addition. Perfect way to coordinate with your team colors for game day!
