How to style a black dress- It’s Thursday; time to style a piece three ways! A black dress is a closet staple. There are endless options for styling a black dress. This particular one is a fan favorite at Nordstrom. It’s newly on sale but, seems to be staying at this price point. Always, love a good sale that lasts. lol!
This dress will most definitely be joining me for so many occasions this summer. Whether you’re wearing it super casually or dressing it up for dinner plans; a black dress is sure to meet your needs!
How to style a black dress
Wear the black dress casually with water sandals and a baseball hat. I love mixing ultra casual pieces with dressier pieces. The dress totally plays up the shoes and hat. Making for a perfect mix of styles. Specifically, these Chaco’s sandals are amazing! They have great arch support and are water friendly. Perfect for a vacay or heading to the splash pad with the kids.
This look is great for day wear or dinner plans! Wear it all day and head out for the evening in the same get up and be ready to roll! Wear a straw fedora, layered necklace, denim, jacket and slides for what I like to think of as the most versatile of the looks.
Cognac is a great color to wear with black. The rich brown pops so nicely against black. Whether you’re wearing slides, sandals, or wedges the color is a great addition.
Be ready for a casual wedding or fun dinner date and opt for a kimono and platform sandals. Ain’t no shame in keeping it monochromatic. Love how the overlay and sandals are black with some brown/tan accents. Makes for a great neutral, classic complete look.
Bonus look- wear a loose knit pullover sweater over the dress and let it drape off the shoulder. This is a great way to give the dress new live. A pullover top makes it feel like a skirt rather than a dress.
Fit- this particular dress is by Leith at Nordstrom. I am wearing a size small. Go true to size for a more fitted look. Size up one for a more loose fit. I own both sizes and either works.
