Flared jeans are so on trend right now! I love it. Personally, as someone with short legs; the long flares are perfect for elongating the leg! Now, make it a pair of BLACK flare jeans are even better. Definitely chic and super easy to dress up for so many different occasions.
I had a specific outfit in mind and hadn’t added a pair of black flare jeans to my closet. So, I decided to order three pair of black flare jeans with the hopes of at least one pair working out! Thank goodness they did. Truly, one pair was absolutely perfect and actually the last pair I found while shopping online for a few to try out.
But, let’s review all three of the black flare jeans. I ordered them from Nordstrom all at different price points from three different brands. The three brands were Joe’s, Good American, and Topshop.
Joe’s Black Flare Jeans
My first impression was that I liked the color. A true black. The material felt stretchy and comfortable. The length looked good as well. After trying on I decided they didn’t quite meet the bar. Feel and overall look was great.
The part I wasn’t super fond of was the “high waisted” element. They hit two to three inches below my belly button. Making them feel and look more like a midrise. By no means low rise. But, for my personal wants they weren’t quite high waisted enough for how I Iike my jeans to feel.
I do have a very long torso. So, if you have a shorter torso these might be the perfect option! They are a great black, very comfortable, and a true flare. Meant to be worn with some sort of heel or wedged shoe.
Sizing and price
The Joe’s black flare jeans fit true to size. I am wearing a size 26 and would stick with my size. They are also on sale regularly $198 on sale for $118
Topshop Black Flare Jeans
I had high hopes for the Topshop flare jeans. The price point was by far the most attractive. However, they ended up falling short figuratively and literally. I read the reviews after ordering and realized I probably should have ordered one size up. Which ended up being true. I ordered my typical size 26. They were too snug. I could get them zipped but, had no wiggle or breathing room. Had I sized up one they would have fit well.
However, the length was strange. The 30” inseam was too short. That much of a flare without length looks very awkward in my opinion. Definitely not flattering on a person who has short stubby legs to begin with. The in seam was too short and did not elongate the frame at all.
Unfortunately, even if I had sized up they would have been a no. Just way to short for wearing with any sort of heel. The length is perfect for sneakers but, with the flare just not a flattering silhouette. The black is a little lighter than the other two options. On their own they’re just fine. The color only looked a little less of a true black when put next to the other brands.
The Joe’s and Good American in seam is 34″ perfect for wearing with heels, booties, or wedges.
Sizing and price
If you are looking for a short inseam these are a great option. Definitely size up one from your typical size. The price point is great too at $78.
Good American Black Flare Jeans
The second I stepped foot in these jeans I knew they were the ones. Oh my gosh, they just felt so good! Fit so well with stretch and looked amazing. Super slimming, elongating, and fit like a glove. I love the black button fly detail and the high waist hit exactly where I like it. The black is a true deep black.
The length of the Good American jeans is also great. A true flare with length for boots. Wearing a pointed toe boot is so great. It keeps the long lean lines going and creates such a fabulous silhouette.
Sizing and price
This option fits true to size. I am wearing a size 26 and would stick with this size. The price point is $129. They are the most expensive option but, so worth it!
